Wonderfully atmospheric 1888 church in Exmouth Market - The Church of Our Most Holy Redeemer. Confession taken on Fridays, 1.00pm. Seek absolution, ask for forgiveness in advance, do the deed, repair to Vesper for vindication lunch, home in time for Play for Today on the radiogram.

I do miss this neighbourhood. During several recent weeks in London, I found myself drawn back more than once. And then on the last day I was at St John for a chat with Trevor about all things hospitality and why insurance companies are bastards. I mentioned "Vic Naylor’s (of Glorious Memory)" and we went down a fabulous rabbit hole about a barman who lives in my memory as, so rude, it's like performance art.
