It's not a book that I often recommend (it's certainly no James Salter) but for a fellow nerd I think you'll love Lowell Edmund's classic "Martini, Straight Up" as much as I do. It takes an academic approach to the subject over some fascinating chapters. I won't ruin the ending too but there's an excellent multi page appendix all about martini glasses.
