Hi. I'm not at my desk right now. I felt a little piquey after a nasty meeting so I'm enjoying 'me time' at the Weltschmerz Spa and Retreat for Exhausted Writers. Back whenever!!!!!!!!
You haven’t mentioned ‘annual leave’. In the USA, where they only have one period of two weeks, fine. In this country with anything from three to five absences, annual leave is a nonsense. What’s wrong with ‘away on holiday’ anyway?
If a routine holiday OOO triggers you then I had better not tell you that the best feeling in the world is when you set the OOO on your last day in a job you’ve resigned from. “Hi, I am no longer with <company>. Please get in touch with <name> in my absence.” - click OK and go skipping off into the sunset awash with euphoria.
Can HR also look at "Hey Max, Hope you had a great weekend!"
1. Freelance. To some degree I work every fucking day of the year (unhealthy maybe but that's how most of us are built). I resent the inference that I was off spunking my time away at Ikea or on a lovely little city break.

Also people who describe going on holiday as 'annual leave'. Or 'hollibobs'. Shudders.
Also: ‘summer hours’
Fuck. I just heard about summer hours today from a friend in publishing. I was, as they say, shook.
Don't start me...

2. Enough with the exclamation marks.
