That’s a very sound idea. It’s time.

Hmmm. This is a complicated one. There’s actually an odd short list of American cocktails in the appendices in the first edition of IPCRESS … but they’re almost intentionally awful. Bond drank cocktails but Harry Palmer, as if by design, didn’t. Not even when he’s in a cocktail bar with Johnny Vulkan. I need to find out what LD felt about cocktails.

What a lovely remembrance. Thank you for sharing. Now I’ll be on the lookout for his books.

I just finished Berlin Station last weekend. This is a lovely tribute.

How marvellous. I have pretty much everything he’s written but had no idea he was so kind.

You should create a cocktail. Not sure whether it should be called the Deighton or perhaps simply the LD.

The Bernie Samson novels, and the background story Winter, are beautifully read by James Lailey on Audible. My preferred driving or medlar cauldron companion any day of the week.

Re watched Ipcress in tribute to this lovely and talented man on Saturday night.

Thank you for these truly kind words; I'm preparing myself for a nine (plus 1) remembrance
